The official Bucharest sources we verify prices, opening hours, transport fares, and event dates against — and where you can re-check them before you go.

Love Bucharest is written to be useful for real planning, so the time-sensitive details — ticket prices, opening hours, transport fares, festival dates — are checked against primary sources, not copied from other travel sites. Those details still change, so on any page that carries them you'll find an inline “Sources & official links” block pointing to the same official pages listed below.
We last reviewed these sources in June 2026. For the values we pinned and the pages they appear on, see FACTS-SOURCES.md in the project. When a price is seasonal or mid-change (Therme's tiered tickets, the recently raised Metrorex fare), we keep a friendly range and send you straight to the official page rather than guess a single number.
Tourism & official city information
Where we start for what's open, what's on, and how to plan — Bucharest's city guide, the City Hall visiting pages, and Romania's national tourism board.

Public transport (tickets, fares, alerts)
Bucharest splits surface transport (STB) and the metro (Metrorex) into two separate ticketing systems. We verify fares, passes, and the airport connection here.
- STB — bus, tram & trolleybus — Surface transport operator: the Card Activ, single-trip and day-pass fares, routes, and alerts.
- Metrorex — Bucharest metro — Metro map, ticket and pass prices, opening times, and the latest fare changes.
- CFR Călători — national railways — The airport train to Gara de Nord plus day-trip rail connections (Sinaia, Brașov, Constanța).
Airport (Otopeni / Henri Coandă)
Getting in and out: bus 100, the airport train, and the official taxi terminals. The airport is mid-renovation, so pickup points can move.
- Bucharest Airports (OTP) — Official airport site: transport options, taxi terminals, and live notices on works.
Landmarks & museums (hours & tickets)
Admission prices and opening hours change without notice. Each of these is the official source we cite on the relevant guide.
- Palace of the Parliament — tours — Official tour routes, ticket tiers, ID requirements, and booking for the Palace.
- George Enescu Philharmonic — Romanian Athenaeum — Visiting the Athenaeum: self-guided tickets, guided tours, and the concert schedule.
- Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum — Tickets, opening hours, and seasonal (outdoor-only Mon–Tue) access at the open-air museum.
- Therme București — Zone- and time-based admission prices, opening hours, and seasonal offers.
- Cotroceni National Museum — Guided-tour reservations, tour types, and ID rules for the presidential palace.
Festivals & seasonal events
Event dates are the most volatile thing on the site. For festivals and markets we point to the organiser and the tourism boards, and we say so when a date isn't yet fixed.

A quick verify checklist
- Confirm opening hours and last-entry times for the day you visit
- Check whether a venue needs advance booking or timed tickets
- Look for seasonal closures (museums often shorten winter hours)
- Check transport alerts and current fares before you travel
